Apollo XI 50th Anniversary

Carlisle IT Timeline

With 650 million pairs of eyes watching, performance matters.

On July 20, 1969, nearly one-fifth of the world’s population watched along as Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins landed on the moon for the first time. It took 400,000 engineers, scientists and technicians from more than 20,000 companies and universities to make the Apollo space program possible. Collectively, they overcame enormous technological challenges with creativity, innovation and determination.

CarlisleIT was part of that team.

CarlisleIT (formerly known as Tensolite and located in Tarrytown, N.Y.) produced miles wire and cable to support NASA’s Apollo program. This cable was used for communications at both the Houston Manned Spacecraft Center and the Kennedy Space Center, as well as in the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM). When performance mattered, CarlisleIT was there. Today, we continue to act as the interconnection that moves ideas to innovations.

The need for innovative, reliable interconnect solutions is greater than ever as we continue our endeavors into deep space exploration. With extensive knowledge of the unique challenges presented by space travel and over five decades of space program interaction, CarlisleIT is the ideal service provider capable of delivering those solutions.

CarlisleIT is proud to join in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo XI Moon landing.
