On July 20, 1969, nearly one-fifth of the world’s population watched along as Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins landed on the moon for the first time. It took 400,000 engineers, scientists and technicians from more than 20,000 companies and universities to make the Apollo space program possible.
